The Challenge
The homeowners wanted a larger, more functional deck that connected naturally with the backyard while providing multiple points of access to the surrounding landscape.
The new layout required careful structural planning across two connected deck areas, three stair locations, and changes in grade around the property. Moisture protection was also an important part of the framing system because of Sammamish's wet climate and the property's mature landscaping.
Rather than treating the deck as a simple rectangular platform, the layout was designed around the home, garden beds, existing landscaping, and how the homeowners wanted to move through the outdoor space.
